  1. Kindly brief us about the outset story of your career.

My career began in the late 2000s, fuelled by a deep passion for technology and its potential to drive change. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Master’s degree in Computer Applications from Madras University, I embarked on a journey that would lead me to become an expert in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data science. My first professional role was as a Senior Engineer at Electronic Data Systems (EDS), where I gained valuable experience in software development and system architecture.

Later, I took on more leadership roles, including Senior Technical Leader at Wipro Technologies, which solidified my understanding of global IT operations. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work across various industries and geographies, leveraging my expertise to lead AI initiatives, develop governance frameworks, and create cutting-edge technological solutions.

Currently, as a Senior Architect (AI) at Mphasis Corporation, I lead teams focused on data science, cloud architecture, and AI-driven innovations. My career has been marked by continuous learning, adapting to industry trends, and a commitment to excellence in everything I do.

  1. As a successful leader, which three personal qualities do you believe contributed most to your success?

The three personal qualities that have been fundamental to my success as a leader are:

Visionary Thinking: I always focus on the long-term impact of decisions. Whether it’s technology trends or business opportunities, my ability to see beyond immediate outcomes helps shape strategies that stand the test of time.

Empathy and Relationship Building: Leadership is about understanding people and building trust. I believe in creating a positive, inclusive environment that allows people to perform their best, fostering creativity and collaboration.

Resilience: The ability to bounce back from setbacks and remain focused on goals has been crucial. Every obstacle is an opportunity to learn, and maintaining resilience has helped me navigate challenges while staying committed to my vision.

  1. What are the aims and ideals that guide you as an individual and a professional?

As an individual and professional, my guiding aims and ideals include:

Continuous Learning: I am a firm believer in lifelong learning. Technology is constantly evolving, and staying updated with new tools, techniques, and trends is essential to remaining relevant.

Integrity: Ethical behaviour, transparency, and trustworthiness are key to building lasting relationships and achieving long-term success. Every decision I make is guided by a commitment to doing what is right, even in challenging situations.

Empowerment: I believe in empowering others to reach their full potential. Whether through mentorship or creating opportunities for growth, I focus on fostering an environment where individuals and teams can excel.

Social Impact: I aim to contribute meaningfully to society, whether through technological innovation, community service, or supporting educational initiatives.

  1. What have been the toughest obstacles you faced in your career?

One of the toughest obstacles I faced was the rapid evolution of technology, which required constant upskilling and adaptability. The transition from traditional IT services to AI, cloud computing, and data-driven solutions meant rethinking how we approach problem-solving and business strategies. It was challenging but essential to stay ahead of the curve by learning new technologies and implementing them effectively.

Another challenge was navigating the cultural differences while working in global teams. Leading teams across various regions meant understanding diverse perspectives, communication styles, and market nuances. Bridging these differences required patience, empathy, and a willingness to embrace change.

Throughout my career, I have received several notable recognitions:

Global Technology Leaders Award (AI) 2024: This prestigious award acknowledged my contributions to AI and its application in driving business growth.

Guinness World Records Coordinator (2018, 2019, 2024): I coordinated events that achieved Guinness World Records, including a global cultural initiative.

Valar Tamil Maamani Award (2023): This award was conferred for my contributions to promoting Tamil culture and education.

Best Program Manager of the Year (2022): Awarded by Mphasis Corporation for outstanding leadership and program management.

My organization, Mphasis, is regularly recognized for its contributions to AI, cloud services, and digital transformation, cementing its status as an industry leader.

  1. Do you have a mantra that you live by?

Yes, my mantra is: “Adapt, Innovate, and Empower.” This mantra reflects my belief in the importance of adaptability in an ever-evolving world, the need to continually innovate to drive change, and the responsibility to empower others to reach their potential.

  1. Who in your life inspires you the most?

The person who has inspired me the most is Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the former President of India and renowned scientist. His life story, dedication to education, and relentless pursuit of knowledge have always resonated with me. Dr. Kalam’s humility, leadership, and vision for a better world are qualities that I deeply admire and strive to embody in my personal and professional life.

  1. What would be your future endeavors, and where do you see yourself in the near future?

In the near future, I aim to deepen my focus on AI and data science, particularly in areas that drive social impact and improve lives. I am committed to promoting cross-cultural and educational initiatives, like the Tamil Studies Chair at the University of Houston, to foster global collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Professionally, I see myself taking on larger roles in strategic leadership, contributing to both technological advancements and global community welfare. I aim to continue mentoring young professionals and supporting innovative projects that bridge the gap between technology and social progress.

  1. Your journey has been inspiring, and it sets a great example for aspiring leaders. What advice do you have for them?

My advice to aspiring leaders is to:

Stay Curious and Keep Learning: The world is changing rapidly, and the only way to stay relevant is through continuous learning and curiosity.

Lead with Empathy: Leadership is about people, not just results. Understand your team’s needs, motivate them, and create a culture of inclusivity and support.

Embrace Failure: Don’t fear failure. Every setback is an opportunity to learn and grow. Resilience is key to long-term success.

Be Purpose-Driven: Know your values and what drives you. Align your work with your purpose, and success will follow naturally.

By focusing on personal growth, fostering innovation, and giving back to society, you can create a meaningful legacy both as a leader and as an individual.
